Late Game Solo Smite

League of Legends is full of champions that make damage dealers miserable both in the laning phase and in teamfight settings. These champs are called tanks and they have a lot of mitigation stats that make them hard to kill.

Tank junglers are favored over carries in the current meta. They have a lot of early game survivability thanks to their items and provide a solid base for their teammates in teamfights.

Draven

A champion with a lot of swagger, Draven is one of the best AD Carrys in League of Legends. The Glorious Executioner & i Heart Chaos is a hard champion to master but can be downright deadly when played well. His auto-attacks can easily break a bot lane and his Q is a great tool for getting some extra kills during the laning phase.

The marksman from Basilich loves to fight and has a huge ego. As an orphan on the streets of Basilich, he was headstrong and bravado and would regularly get into vicious brawls with older street children and shady underworld thugs.

Draven can be a powerful snowball ADC, especially in the early game thanks to his passive and his Q. However, it is important to note that his axes do not crit, so it is essential to position well in teamfights. He works well with tanky champions like Thresh, Leona and Alistar as they can protect him from some burst damage.

Maokai

A treant who survived the Ruination of the Blessed Isles, Maokai is able to use his power to corrupt his enemies and slow them. This makes him one of the best champions to play if you want to punish enemy ADCs for trying to run away during teamfights.

Maokai’s kit revolves around his ability to ensnare enemies with his W, Nature’s Grasp, and root them with his E. This allows him to do some decent poke damage during the laning phase as well as make it hard for enemy champions to escape from him.

During teamfights, Maokai is able reposition himself and deal significant burst damage with his ult. However, he’s very reliant on his teammates and can be easily chain CCed or targeted by assassins. This makes him a bad champion to play in bronze games and below.

Kha’Zix

The champions on this list aren’t dreadful, but they also don’t have a lot of room to grow in the current meta. They’re viable if you’re a confident jungler, but it’s best to focus on our top marksman picks for now.

Xayah

Xayah is another tanky ADC who benefits from high levels of auto attack damage and a solid slow from her Q. She builds R>E>W>Q and maxes Bladecaller (E) first to deal the most damage from her auto attacks. After that, she’ll max Deadly Plumage (W) for a strong root and a hefty attack speed boost.

Her best Mythic item is hotly contested, but Eclipse holds the edge over Duskblade and Prowler’s Claw. Rushing into Silvermere Dawn gives her more tanky strength and a decent amount of CC resistance, but a few levels into Stormrazor is still a great option too.

Ornn

Ornn is a top lane tank that excels at being the first champion into a teamfight with his strong CC and massive damage for a tank. He is particularly good against immobile champions thanks to his Q > E combo that can lock them down for his team or for himself. He also has some utility skills that can help him to avoid damage from enemies such as his teleport or a stun.

He is one of the best tanks for solo queue because he has long range CC with his Q, a solid way to secure objectives with his ultimate, and strong late game scaling from his base stats. Having said that, his kit has some counters like kiting and percent health shred which can stop him from winning games in the later stages of the match. This is why it is important to build into items that give you more defensive stats such as Grasp of the Undying.
